Happy Mother's Day to all the Loving "moms" out there! Here is a recent photo of my mom working in the kitchen at Shady Gables. She is always willing to lend a hand to do whatever needs to be done to make sure Shady Gables keeps running smoothly. For Mother's Day, my siblings and I purchased mom a very special gift... We had her name engraved on the "Mother's Wall of Life" at the Mother's Shrine at St. Patrick's in Laurie. The Shrine provided us with a beautiful gold portfolio announcing that her name had been engraved. I don't think I have ever seen her so touched. She said it was the greatest honor to have her name listed on the the Mother's Shrine. If you have not been to the Shrine, I highly recommend it. The Ozark setting is absolutely beautiful with the forest, the gardens and the fountains. There is also a very peaceful prayer path where you can meditate on the "Stations of the Cross", if you wish. The Mother's Shrine is located behind St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Laurie Missouri, about 15 miles south of Shady Gables. The weeks surrounding Mother's Day are always some of our busiest times of the year here at Shady Gables, and this year was no exception. We were very busy on Saturday with ladies treating their mom's to tea. It just makes me so happy to be here to see all the joy and love these ladies (and a few gentlemen) share. Niki and Denise (Mother and Daughter) were the first this season to share a pot of tea on the front porch. Then later in the afternoon Rachel and her grandmother enjoyed tea on the front porch. This is the perfect time of year for an outdoor tea. It is warm, but there is a slight nip in the air... It makes the hot tea even more enjoyable. I missed seeing my little Ashley for Mother's Day, but that's how it is when you live far apart. We celebrated Mother's Day in Carmel-by-the-sea when I visited her last month. She spent Mother's Day touring San Francisco with Zane and Robin. And she called me to tell me how beautiful the gardens were on Alcatraz! Now that's a devoted daughter, she knew I would want to hear about anything that involved a beautiful garden!
Billy and Juli stopped by on Saturday, after attending a wedding. Now don't you kids know it is not polite to outshine the bride and groom?!!! Just kidding, I know the bride and groom must have been adorable too! Guess what? Juli caught the bouquet! Oh my, do we have another wedding in the works! Have a great week everyone! Warmest Wishes from Shady Gables!
