Well, my first week back to work after vacation has come and gone. The hardest part of the week was being away from my daughter. The best part of the week was seeing some of my very favorite people and their smiling faces! Cheryl and I had a lovely "finger food" Tea Party, it was good to hear her laugh! It was wonderful to see my mama and her baby sister working together in the kitchen! It was even fun to get "in trouble" from my auntie! I don't know how she puts up with me! (ha!) It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces in the shop this week, my dear friends Cathaleen M, Carol A, Wendy W, Shirley B, and many others! And I also met some new friends, like the mayor of Higginsville and his nice family; darling little Rose and Sophia who came to tea wearing lovely hats and escorted by their kind grandmother. The very best thing about owning a Tea Room is the wonderful people you get to meet and work with! It was good to see Juli, Amber, Mark and Christa, my loyal serving staff, and hear all about what they have been up to! It was good to see Wanda and Jeanie L. They keep us entertained with stories about their grandchildren. After church today, I had the house to myself. I fixed a lovely pot of "Hymn of Silence" tea and sat in my favorite spot looking over the back yard. The colors are so beautiful this time of year. The fuchsia of the red bud blooms, contrasted by the chartreuse green of the new leaves, the pink of the apple blossoms and the creamy white of the pear blossoms and the white daffodils. So pretty! The only sound was the ticking of the clock and, at noontime, the chimes from the Methodist Church Bells. They played one of my favorite hymns, "Then Sings My Soul, My Savior God To Thee." It was relaxing to watch the birds and squirrels playing and searching for food on a nice rainy afternoon. I love rainy days! So cozy! I wonder if every small town in America is this relaxing... My garden sign says... "A green growing garden. A good cup of tea. A day touched by sunshine. A warm memory." But I decided it should say..."A green growing garden. A good pot of tea. A day touched by raindrops. A warm memory." Now that's more my style!
