Think Spring!

Is it just me, or does this winter seem to be dragging on and on?! I sat down this afternoon to warm myself with a lovely cup of Formosa Oolong tea. (One of my favorites!) It's snowing again! But here at Shady Gables, we are getting ready for spring! We have spent the last two weeks unpacking our new spring merchandise and planning the spring menus. 26 days till our annual Saint Patrick's Day Tea Party! All together now... THINK SPRING!

Featured in Lake Lifestyles magazine!

I was very honored to be selected by Lake Lifestyles magazine as one of the area's Top 10 Business Women of the Year! Along with nine other women and their businesses, I had the pleasure of being featured in the magazine. They held a lovely reception for us at Old Kinderhook Golf Club. Thank you so much Lake Media! Visit them online at http://www.lakenewsonline.com . You can also take a look at an article on http://worldteanews.com. This is a very exciting event and a great privilege for Shady Gables!

Mrs. Claus 2009

We were so blessed to have our favorite celebrity visit the Tea Room this Christmas! Mrs. Claus was a charming guest as were all the children who enjoyed a Tea Party with her!

Behind the Scenes at Shady Gables

We have way too much fun at this place! Here are some photos to prove it! Just remember, what happens at Shady Gables, stays at Shady Gables!

Truffles!

I recently attended a lovely function where one of the desserts served was "Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough" Truffles. They were soooo yummy! These little jewels were created by Kathy Odom, owner of the Sugar Loft Cake Shoppe in Osage Beach Missouri. (Visit her website at http://www.cakebaker.com/) Anyhow, this set me on a quest to create my own Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles! I came up with the perfect, simple recipe and made them for my guests at Shady Gables today. They were a big hit with the employees too! Here are some pictures of Juli and Christa with Truffles on their tiny "finger food" trays! What a couple of hams! And here is my simple recipe...

8 ounces of cream cheese, softened
12 to 14 ounce package of butter cookies
3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
2 packages of white chocolate chips

Crush the cookies into fine crumbs. Blend the softened cream cheese and the cookie crumbs. Stir in the mini chocolate chips. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a single layer cookie sheet and place the cookie sheet in the freezer for about 1 hour. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave. Remove the balls from the freezer and coat with the melted white chocolate. Lay them on wax paper to set. Once they are set, place them in a covered container and keep refrigerated. These are awesome! Tastes just like cookie dough!
